A Message from Bob: Roy E. Disney Passes Away
by
Marcio Disney
Dear Cast Members,
It is with great sadness that I inform you of the passing of our friend and colleague Roy E. Disney. After a courageous year-long fight with stomach cancer, he passed away peacefully this morning at Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach, surrounded by his loving family.
Roy played an important role in our lives here at Disney, and in the success of our Company over many years. Along the way, he touched many of us in a personal way. During his 56-year association with the Company, his true passion and focus was preserving and building upon the amazing legacy of Disney animation that was started by his father and uncle. His commitment to the art of animation was unparalleled and will always remain his personal legacy and one of the greatest contributions to Disney's past, present and future.
Roy not only helped to keep the legacy alive, but he also embraced new technologies, and gave the filmmakers the tools they needed to tell their stories in new and exciting ways. He encouraged talent, and loved working with the creative community. And they loved working with him.
Roy was a Disney Legend in every sense of the word, and his contributions to this great Company have been profound and will always be remembered. For the next week we will be flying the Disney flag at half mast here at the Studio and at our parks, and I know you join me in sending thoughts and prayers to Roy's wife, Leslie, his four children, and his 16 grandchildren. For those who wish to pay their respects, the family has requested that donations be made in Roy's name to the California International Sailing Association (CISA) to benefit youth sailing.

IllumiNations: Special Christmas Finale
by
Marcio Disney
Can you feel it? The Spirit of the Season is everywhere!!! Only at this time of the year we've got the Special Christmas Finale from IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth.
After the regular fireworks, Disney added a 4 minutes show to wish us all Peace on Earth and Good Will to Man!!!
It's starts with a female voice saying:
"And now at this special time as we embrace a promise of a new year we would like to share one final message"
Then the song "Let There be Peace on Earth" is played with the fireworks.
After this, we got messages of Peace on Earth in several languages while the respective pavilion lights up.
Walter Cronkite voice's is now heard:
"During this glorious time of year there is one message that rings out around the world in every language: Peace on Earth, Good Will to Men! Is a wish to hold in our hearts throughout each passing year. A gift of immeasurable value. A treasure being handed down with care from generation to generation. And so our holiday wish is that everyone, everywhere share in the spirit of the season: Peace on Earth, good will to men."
It's a very emotional part of the show and it touches me deeply.
Walter Leland Cronkite, Jr. (November 4, 1916 – July 17, 2009) was an American broadcast journalist, best known as "the most trusted man in America" after being so named in an opinion poll.

Holiday Wishes
by
Marcio Disney
At the Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, Holiday Wishes replaces the regular wishes fireworks. It’s a nighttime spectacular even more amazing that orchestrates the fireworks to holiday tunes.
The show premiered in 2005 and was created by the Disney Creative Entertainment which is the theatrical and technical live entertainment production division of Walt Disney Imagineering, a fully-owned subsidiary of The Walt Disney Company. It features a 180 degree fireworks presentations in various portions.
The first time I saw Holiday Wishes as a Cast Member was in december 2008. I was working in the Fantasyland and saw the fireworks show from behind the castle during my break. This first time I paid more attention to people and their reactions than to the fireworks itself and my favorite part is ALWAYS when the big crowd cheers the Holiday Wishes finale. "May all our Christmas Wishes Come True" :)
On another post, I said that I worked twice as Character Attendant and was Belle who taught me how to go to the roof to see the fireworks :)
In this videos, you'll see the entire show and the after-show song with some nice footage in the last one. And always remember: Home is where your heart is :)

Rachel Echo and the Joy to the Small World - Christmas 2009
by
Marcio Disney
The new Disney’s holiday television spot [Joy to the Small World] is based on It’s a Small World Holiday Attraction which debuted with a dazzling light display on the building exterior on November 27, 1997 at Disneyland, CA.
I had the honor to met Rachel Echo, a beautiful 13 years old girl, with a amazing voice who lives in Carleton, MI, one of the singers of the TV Commercial song. She was with the MOTCC group ( Michigan Opera Theater Children's Chorus) and one day, Disney people appeared and 14 people was chosen to go and record at Yessin studios. She told me:
“We did it for around 2 hours and then they gave us pizza and pop :) lol...we did about 5 different harmonies which we recorded around 3 times each to get the affect of hundreds of kids singing and then we were done. They Layered my voice too!”.
Rachel Echo is the second solo singing “It’s a world of hopes and a world of fears”.
Rachel gave us one last message:
"This was an amazing experience and if anyone is given an opportunity like this, don't pass it up. They were very nice all the time and this is something we'll never forget"
In this video you can hear the original soundtrack and see the clock and the snow at the holiday attraction at Disneyland.
Back to the ride, for the first time, dolls that traditionally sang "it's a small world" in their native languages now alternated with "Jingle Bells” with a new restored and remastered original attraction soundtrack .
A few people knows that: Bill Rogers, the voice of Disneyland, is heard inside the attraction.
Bill is most known for his Disneyland announcements such as welcoming guests in the morning or the notification that the fireworks will be beginning in just five minutes. In the spirit of the season, Bill told about his character: "The folks in the music and entertainment departments came to me fortunately, because I really didn't have much to do in terms of attractions at any time, and they asked me to record a few Santa Claus lines. For years I had been doing Santa Claus for my children, not only privately but in public. So Santa Claus was allowed to offer a few admonitions to those who had been good and those who were considering the dark side. We just had a whole lot of fun with this!"

Behind the Magic — Disney Holidays HGTV
by
Marcio Disney
David Bromstad, former Disney World cast member, won fame by winning the first season of HGTV’s Design Star. Last week, the Miami-Beach based designer was back in the parks, working on Behind the Magic — Disney Holidays, an HGTV special that debuts Nov. 29. Bromstad, who now hosts Color Splash on HGTV (taping resumes in January, he says), talked about the episode.
What is your mission while here?
We’re filming behind the scenes Disney magic Christmas special. We’re showing America how crazy and fantastic Disney is. Really, they do everything overnight.
What kind of things are you seeing?
What kind of things are you seeing?
Last night we saw Main Street getting all decorated. We saw the Castle. We saw people practicing. Just everything and all happening simulatenously. Really quite amazing.
Did they rip down Halloween in front of you?
Did they rip down Halloween in front of you?
They ripped out Halloween before we even got there, and we got here pretty early. They were on top of things.
Is it giving you a flashback to your time as a cast member?
Is it giving you a flashback to your time as a cast member?
Absolutely, I worked with visual merchandisers for several years. I knew a lot of the stuff that happened, but it’s always so crazy and amazing to see it again and again and again. You never get sick of it.
You host “Color Splash” and Disney IS a color splash. What style would you call that?
You host “Color Splash” and Disney IS a color splash. What style would you call that?
You can go into the Magic Kingdom and see a very traditional Christmas then go over to Tomorrowland and see something really wacky and far out and wild. Then go to Animal Kingdom and see something completely opposite. That’s the great thing about Disney, there are so many places that you can go and be inspired by different things.
Did you learn something you did not know in the last two days?
Did you learn something you did not know in the last two days?
I didn’t know it only took three days to do [decorate] the entire Magic Kingdom. That was the biggest thing. I knew it happened quickly — just not that quickly.
What else have you seen?
What else have you seen?
I actually got to go into the Disney Christmas warehouse, where cameras have never really been before. I got to see all the trees, the fake trees all dismantled and being ready to be shipped out. All the floor trees, wreaths and garland. It’s huge — 5,000 square feet of Christmas crazy. Awesome.
Did your Disney experience influence your personal style?
Did your Disney experience influence your personal style?
Disney always influences me. Disney is what I look to for quality. Because I worked here as an artist and because I learned how to be an artist because of Disney, they took the quality of my art and made it superior. To this day, when I do artwork or when I do a room, I always compare to if it would match up with Disney.

Internet Marriage Proposal Couple Celebrates Their Engagement at Disneyland Park
posted on September 30th, 2011 by George Savvas, Public Relations Director, Disneyland Resort
You may have seen an online video of a fun marriage proposal that occurred at Downtown Disney District at the Disneyland Resort last week.
We thought it would be fun to meet this young couple, so we invited Jamin and Valerie to Disneyland park, where our own Paul Hiffmeyer took their engagement photo.
They told me their favorite things to do at the Disneyland Resort include Space Mountain, Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters, Soarin’ Over California and especially Turtle Talk with Crush! These two are truly kids at heart.
Today, they are most looking forward to experiencing Star Tours: The Adventures Continue for the very first time.
Some special guests also stopped by to wish the happy couple best wishes on their upcoming marriage.
As for setting the date, it’s looking like May 11, 2012, is going to be the big day. Congratulations, Valerie and Jamin!
Wedding Bells Ring at Walt Disney World Resort
If
your thoughts turn to love, romance, and all things "twitter-pated" in
the spring, you're not alone – there's a reason that spring is the
traditional season for wooing and wedding. And for couples who are ready
to take that final step and embrace a happily-ever-after, there's no
finer place than Walt Disney World Resort to say "I do."
We wanted to peek behind the bridal veil and see what goes into planning
a Disney's Fairy Tale Wedding, so we sat down with Korri McFann. A
15-year veteran on the Disney's Fairy Tale Weddings & Honeymoons team, Korri gave us some helpful tips for making the most of a wedding and showed us what it takes to make the magic.
"I and many of my colleagues are all very passionate about the work we do in weddings," she explains. "I guess you can say we are one of the few who get to think about weddings 365 days of the year!"
That passion is put to work creating weddings that are as special as the couples they celebrate. And to make a wedding truly memorable, Korri urges the couple to take charge and decide what would make the day meaningful. "Being engaged is very overwhelming, but it is very important to share with our team what is most important to you. The more our team knows the better we can help to make your day perfect."
She recommends booking 16 months in advance to ensure couples can reserve the venue of their choice, and to allow plenty of time for relaxed planning with their Disney Wedding Planner. Specialists are assigned to help them arrange food, flowers, and complete event management. Korri reminds couples, "Our dedicated team of experts is here to make the planning process easy and, more importantly, fun. Disney's Fairy Tale Weddings truly is a 'one-stop-shop' for all your planning needs. Walt Disney World Resort offers floral, photo, video, transportation, culinary, and entertainment that work perfectly together so you don't have to!"

Once the planning is done and the big day arrives, she has one crucial
tip, "My biggest advice for the wedding day is to let go ... allow us to
take on the planning, so you can truly be a guest at your own wedding!"
The Memories Collection makes planning easy, with wedding plans designed with a Disney touch – just choose the option that strikes your fancy and let the magic unfold. But suppose you picture a wedding as unique as you are? For couples looking for a truly personalized experience, the Disney's Fairy Tale Weddings Wishes Collection is there to make their dreams come true. From an intimate gathering to a grand gala event, the team is there to tailor every detail. Says Korri, "My favorite part is helping a couple create an event that is their story. This can be as simple as a color scheme, an amazing menu that reflects their heritage, or special entertainment and special touches that reflect themselves as a couple. That is when you know you have helped to plan a great wedding!"
The centerpiece of a fairy-tale wedding is a fairy-tale gown – and it's hard to do better than a gown from an actual fairy tale! Brides looking for lovely couture can turn to the Disney's Fairy Tale Weddings by Alfred Angelo collection, inspired by the style and personality of seven iconic Disney Princesses: Ariel, Aurora, Belle, Cinderella, Jasmine, Snow White, and Tiana. The collection includes classic, grand ball gowns in layers of tulle and sparkle net, updated fit and flare styles to highlight curves and movement, and pleated and wrapped bodices to flatter the bride's figure.
Flowers and frills make a wedding lovely and highlight this once-in-a-lifetime moment. But the key to a real dream wedding might lie in something very simple. Korri says, "We have seen a lot of events over the years, but the best weddings are when couples relax and get to enjoy their event. It is about the couples joining as one family – I still tear up when I see a bride go down the aisle. I guess that is why I am still in this business!"

First Look at the Royal Wedding Dress – Ariel’s, That is
posted on April 25th, 2011 by Michele Himmelberg, Public Relations Director, Disneyland Resort
As anticipation builds for the British royal wedding on Friday, so does speculation about what Kate Middleton will wear when she weds Prince William. We have another princess getting ready to debut her wedding gown here at the Disneyland Resort, on June 3. That’s when Ariel and Prince Eric will debut in The Little Mermaid ~ Ariel’s Undersea Adventure, an attraction inspired by the classic animated film, including the film’s wedding scene.
To find out more about Ariel’s dress and Prince Eric’s attire, I talked to the clothing designer, Gloria Bowls. She collaborated with Walt Disney Imagineer Larry Nikolai to create a look that reflects several periods of British history. Ariel’s gown, similar to the dress in the film, was largely influenced by the royal wedding of Charles and Diana in 1981 (“The Little Mermaid” film debuted in 1989).
“What was amazing about Diana’s dress was that no princess had arrived on the scene with such grandeur – larger than life,” Gloria said. “Ariel’s dress has some of that grandeur, a fantasy come to life – and larger than life. The big poof sleeves are almost as big as her head.”
Here’s a sneak peek at Ariel in her wedding finery.
Gloria designed custom wedding gowns and evening wear before taking on the challenge of designing costumes for Audio-Animatronics figures and consulting for Disney. She credits Larry Nikolai’s vision for encouraging her to let this dress express Ariel’s mermaid personality (i.e., she has this thing for “thingamabobs”).
“Ariel’s dress is made very much like a regular bride’s dress in that the bodice is fully lined, interlined and extensively boned – it practically stands up on its own,” Bowls said. “My favorite part is the front inset of the skirt … an underwater seascape with a shell, a starfish, a seahorse, all beaded and appliqued on, with seaweed lace.
“I hope each little girl will come off the ride inspired and dreaming of having a dress like Ariel’s for her own wedding day.”
These photos show Gloria as she was working on the dress, plus some of the intricate detail.
Complementing Ariel’s dress is Prince Eric’s attire, inspired by 19th century British royalty and British military uniforms. Details such as gold silk buttons reflect the aspects of courage, valor and honor.
Gloria was one of many experts who worked on this attraction. Would you like to hear from some of the Walt Disney Imagineers who created the Little Mermaid ~ Ariel’s Undersea Adventure? Enter for a chance to attend our meet-up, scheduled for May 10 at 6:30 p.m.
What do you think of the magical detail in Ariel’s royal wedding gown?
‘Rock the Pavilion’ with Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings and Honeymoons
posted on April 11th, 2011 by Korri McFann, Worldwide Marketing & Business Development Director, Weddings and Honeymoons
We recently had the honor of kicking off the Disney Social Media Moms Celebration where we held a surprise vow renewal ceremony for Walt Disney World couple, Kristen & Greg. I’m seeing more and more couples look for unique and interesting ways to make their grand entrance, so I wanted something fun and energetic to introduce our bride Kristen. I enlisted the help of some friends and Franck himself to make operation ‘Rock the Pavilion’ come to life.

In 1991 Disney created the Disney's Fairy Tale Weddings services to couples at Disneyland, Walt Disney World and Cruise Lines.
In the beginning, only couples with a valid California or Florida marriage license could purchase its wedding packages but, since 2007 even gay couples can have a commitment ceremony and they added the Honeymoon service.
People propose at Disney Parks all the time, so… nothing is more natural than get married there too. I made 3 videos to show how those proposals happen and how Disney's Fairy Tale Weddings and Honeymoons can help your dream come true!
According to wedding industry experts, Walt Disney World Resort is Recognized as a top-ranked honeymoon destination and destination weddings venue.
The sky is the limit for themed weddings - from an enchanting Cinderella-like wedding in Magic Kingdom or a Hollywood extravaganza in Disney’s Hollywood Studios to international-themed nuptials at Epcot or a safari-themed reception at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
More than 1,600 couples from every state in America and from international locations wish to tie the knot at Florida or California every year.
The most widely used location for weddings, vow renewals and commitment ceremonies, is the Disney’s Wedding Pavilion on the shores of the Seven Seas Lagoon, inside the Grand Floridian Resort.
The first wedding at Disney’s Wedding Pavilion was televised live June 18, 1995, on Lifetime Television as part of its “Weddings of a Lifetime” series.
The Imagineers designed it in a special way… you can see Cinderella’s Castle behind the altar and through a arch outside the chapel.
“The pavilion gives couples an elegant indoor setting with the romance of Cinderella Castle visible in the distance,” said George Aguel, vice president resort sales, planning and development, Walt Disney Attractions.

“Through the years, hundreds of couples have requested to get married in the theme parks,” said Randy Garfield, executive vice president of sales and travel operations, Walt Disney Attractions. “We have expanded our offerings and designed a one-of-a-kind wedding program to fulfill those special requests.” Weddings at Walt Disney World Resort’s most famous venues are limited only by the imagination of the couples. Here are several possibilities:
Magic Kingdom
The romance of the fairy tale is captured as a bride, dressed in a specially designed Cinderella gown, arrives in a horse-drawn carriage. A fairy tale major domocarries the wedding rings in a glass slipper, a trumpeter heralds the bride’s entrance with favorite Disney fanfare and an elegant string quartet sets the scene. Couples exchange vows at the Rose Garden with Cinderella Castle as the backdrop for the ultimate fairy tale celebration in a place where dreams really do come true.
Epcot
Couples can choose from several venues around World Showcase -- The American Adventure, United Kingdom, France or Italy -- for an international festival featuring specialized food and entertainment. At The Seas with Nemo and Friends, a 5.7-million-gallon tank featuring more than 200 varieties of sea life is the backdrop for couples.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Screaming fans and autograph hounds set the scene. The bride arrives in a star motorcade down Hollywood Boulevard for an official handprint ceremony at the Chinese Theater. A reception follows in the Great Movie Ride attraction. The evening can end with “Sorcery in the Sky” fireworks featuring a personalized pyro show. Couples can even “take the plunge” -- literally and figuratively -- on The Twilight Zone™ Tower of Terror.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom
Weddings are exotic at Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park. Couples can take their guests on an adventure into the wild with a safari-themed reception. Imagine African music, food and décor to inspire a beautiful African celebration.
Princesses Rings
Disney launched a line of wedding diamond rings inspired by the Princesses, including: Cinderella, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Princess Jasmine from “Aladdin,” Ariel from “The Little Mermaid,” and Belle from “Beauty and the Beast.”
The sparklers retail for $1,200 to $6,000.
Wedding prices begin at $4,500 for an Escape Wedding Collection gathering for two. Wishes Wedding Collection ceremonies start at $10,000 for 20 guests or more. An average wedding at Disney is approximately $20,000 for 50 people.
Disney’s Honeymoon Registry, which launched Feb. 14, 2007, is a complimentary online service that allows couples to create a gift registry for components of an all-inclusive honeymoon to Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, aboard a Disney Cruise Line ship, or at select Disney Vacation Club Resorts.

There are 33 couples tying the knot Sunday at the Walt Disney World Resort, Disneyland Resort, aboard the Disney Cruise Line and at Hong Kong Disneyland. Repeating number dates have always been popular for weddings, but this is the first double-digit date to appear in our time.
I wanted to share one couple’s engagement story with you. Meet Ashley and Alex, Disney enthusiasts that got engaged before running over 13 miles!
Ashley and Alex trained all summer to participate in the Walt Disney World Half Marathon. The morning of the race, they were approached by a Cast Member who informed them they had been selected to participate in Disney Couple’s Trivia. The Cast Member offered them a ride to the starting line as she briefed them on the rules of the game. When they reached the starting line, the cameraman turned his lens to Ashley as Alex proposed in front of 20,000 runners!
The couple is back at the Walt Disney World Resort today, this time surrounded by family and friends, celebrating their union in an intimate ceremony at Epcot.
Modern brides and grooms are creative with their wedding planning, injecting their own style and personality into the key elements of their special day. At Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings we help them achieve their vision and express what makes them unique.
One way many couples choose to express themselves is by choosing a creative cake topper.
This gorgeous topper is a white chocolate replica of Cinderella Castle, making it not only a beautiful choice for a Fairy Tale Wedding, but also a delicious one!
Many couples opt to get a little more personal and top their cake with national flags, photo frames, family crests and even monogrammed toppers such as this one, which has the added effect of being lit by LED lights.
Want a spin on tradition? Recently we’ve seen couples who represent their personalities with miniature figures. Check out this jet-setting couple, sprinting to their big event atop their cake. For one couple, our bakery even made replicas of the bride and groom out of chocolate!
Couples also can choose from a wide variety of elegant floral cake toppers. This lily topper offers up beauty and grace, while a cluster of roses offers a splash of color to your confections, and a sprinkling of freesia presents a fragrant surprise for wedding guests. A floral topper is the perfect way for a couple to show off their preferred perennial.
Get creative – our bakery can bring almost any vision to life. Style and personality never tasted so good!

For those of you looking to plan the perfect proposal at Disney, we just unveiled DisneyEngagements.com as a planning resource.
Back at Walt Disney World Resort today on vacation, Alex and Donna were interviewed live from the Magic Kingdom on “The Early Show” on CBS, where they showed the magical photo from 1980 and recalled the moment that they learned of this Disney dream-come-true. That interview, as well as the now-famous, original snapshot, can be viewed at this link.
Have you ever attended a Disney’s Fairytale Wedding? I did about 11 years ago when a dear friend was married at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. It was such a magical event – I mean, who wouldn’t want to get married in the happiest place on earth? With Valentine’s Day approaching, I figured there may be some of you ready to tie the knot (or at least ask “that” big question). If you have been reading Korri McFann’s articles, then you are aware of the many opportunities we offer to create special wedding moments. But what do you give the happy couple? I walked the hallways of Disney Theme Park Merchandise and found several items with one common theme – a bride and groom Disney Ear Hat.
Megan Kachur, developer for ear hats, said the hats have been around forever (perhaps they were married long ago). These hats served as the inspiration for an entire art program developed by David Whitaker, Product Developer for Home and Décor.
“I chose the ear hats as I wanted a wedding message that was related to our Disney Parks,” said David. “I’ve seen many honeymoon couples at Disney who love wearing those hats, so it made sense to have an assortment featuring those icons.”
For the ear-hat art program, there are a variety of items including pins (the ultra portable item to inform others you are the happy couple); photo albums and wedding frames to capture memories from the special day; and my favorite item – coffee cups. Those cups sure make it easy to identify who gets what cup in the morning (especially when one is a little sleepy).
Another common theme I discovered was Minnie and Mickey portrayed as a bride and groom. There are some new figurines that look incredible (especially Minnie’s wedding gown). David shared some additional details.
“Minnie’s wedding gown has a pearlescent finish which makes it shimmer,” explained David. “I think the ‘over the threshold’ figure is my favorite. It is not only a great gift but I’ve seen people use it as a cake topper.”
My final (possibly favorite) thing I found was sitting on Maria Clapsis’ desk at Disney Design Group. Maria is one of our artists who designs Vinylmation figures. She created a one-of-a-kind custom Vinylmation set for her friends who were tying the knot. Talk about a personalized gift – wow!
So now it is your turn. Have you given a special Disney gift to a recently married couple? I’m sure there are others out there looking for some inspiration.
Every February, across the country…candy, flowers, and gifts are exchanged in the name of romance. Love is in the air and on the high seas!
You may be surprised to know that there are some very romantic escapes for couples on Disney Cruise Line:
- Palo, Disney’s signature restaurant at sea, treats adults to sweeping ocean views and exquisite cuisine. Located high atop both ships, it’s the perfect setting for a romantic dinner. For true indulgence, try Palo’s famous chocolate soufflé.
- For the ultimate in luxury, the Vista Spa offers Spa Villas, with an indoor treatment suite, a private outdoor verandah, hot tub and chaise lounge. With incredible ocean vistas and warm tropical breezes, the Spa Villas provide guests with a romantic retreat for two.
- On Disney Cruise Line’s private island, Castaway Cay, Serenity Bay is a pristine stretch of beach exclusively for adults. At Serenity Bay, sparkling turquoise waters meet pristine white sand, palm fronds sway in the breeze. Walk hand-in-hand down the beach or relax in a two-person hammock.
- Also at Serenity Bay, adults can enjoy a Couples Massage at one of the nearby cabanas overlooking the ocean.
- Watch the sunset on Deck 7, aft. A little known spot, this secluded deck is also the location for many onboard weddings and vow renewal ceremonies.
Someday Your Prince Will Come…A Royal Engagement at Cinderella’s Royal Table
posted on September 29th, 2010 by Pam Brandon, Disney Parks Food Writer
And let’s hope he knows about “The Glass Slipper, A Royal Engagement at Cinderella’s Royal Table at Magic Kingdom Park.” Because where better to stage a marriage proposal than Cinderella Castle?
Though you may be too nervous to eat, you can propose over a lunch or dinner that includes appetizers, entrées and two non-alcoholic drinks in Champagne flutes (alas, no Champagne in the Magic Kingdom). You bring the ring, they provide a glass slipper etched with rose petals. Disney photographers will be there to capture your darling’s delight. If you’re not the jealous type, Cinderella will join you for a photo.
End the sweet experience with a Chocolate Slipper Royal Dessert, a white chocolate slipper filled with chocolate mousse on a “pillow” of angel food cake with fresh berries.
Reservations are limited and Magic Kingdom admission is required. For reservations, call 407-824-4477. Cost is $300 plus tax and gratuity.

Sterling Silver Coach Charm Retail: $45.00 The choice mode of transportation for every bride if she gets the chance, is the fantasy driven Cinderella Pumpkin Coach. I have chosen this classic icon to be an integral part of many of my creations for Disney's Fairy Tale Weddings, but in no other piece is the exquisite detail as well defined as in this sterling silver Carriage Charm. It is the perfect keepsake to recall all the magic of the bride's special day. A beautiful clear diamond colored crystal sits in the center of the coach representing the everlasting love that this day celebrates. Whether worn on a chain as a necklace, attached to a ribbon and used as a bookmark, or decoratively hung in a special place, this fabulous charm is ideal for the bride and her attendants to have and to hold from this day forward.
Drink Charms (set of six) Retail: $35.00 Weddings are probably the biggest parties that most people attend in their lifetimes. But why should the party end when the reception is over? I have created this set of 6 drink charms to adorn your stemware long after the last song has been played. Jewel tone stones sit inside carriage icon charms to remind everyone that the magic is everlasting. This set is also great fun at a bachelorette party, where each bridal party member can be gifted with her very own set to take home!
Flower Girl Cone with Crystal Sparkle Retail: $75.00 Paving the first steps on the bride's road to happiness. The flower girl scatters her petals on her journey down the aisle. Guest Book with Pen Retail: $120.00 A guest book is an important part of the beginning of the bride and groom's married history. Encourage your bridal party and guests to record their names and a little message as well. To add a touch more romance, interspersed throughout this book are some of my own favorite Disney quotes inspired by love.
Ring Bearer's Pillow with Crystal Sparkle Retail: $75.00 Possibly the most important job next to the wedding officiant is the Ring Bearer.
His task is mighty as he transports the most important pieces of jewelry that the bride and groom will ever exchange for the rest of their lives. For this journey, I have created the most charming pillow complete with embroidered swirls, pearl accents, satin ribbon and crystal brooch center.

Quite possibly the most elegant pair of toasting flutes ever created, they are almost too nice to even use! As memorable as the toast itself, these glasses can be used on anniversaries, special occasions and for romantic evenings during their life long honeymoon.

Some Disney Tales
Monica, 29, Topeka, KS
My husband and I celebrated our honeymoon in Walt Disney World. It was his first big vacation ever as well as his first Disney trip. We both fell in love with IllumiNations at Epcot, our favorite park by far.
On our last night, we decided to catch IllumiNations one more time. It threatened to rain all day and that night it poured. Luckily I packed windbreakers and ponchos. We huddled under a tree and waited for the show to start in the pouring rain. Sitting there in the rain and enjoying our last evening together was very romantic ... and the most spectacular vacation moment ever!
Gavin, 50, San Jose, California
My wife and I were married in December 1994 and chose to spend our honeymoon at Disneyland as we both adored the Park as kids. We had a wonderful time at the Disneyland Hotel and particularly enjoyed the way the Park was decorated for the Christmas season. Our favorites were the huge tree and the Christmas parade. Nine months after our Disneyland honeymoon, we welcomed our lovely daughter into the world. She's now a teenager and budding artist. Her favorite person ever? Walt Disney!

For those who believe in happy endings and fairy tale settings, a proposal at a Disney Destination is a magical experience to cherish forever. December is the busiest month of the year for proposals, so I wanted to share some tips about the top 10 places to propose at Disney.
10. California Grill – With a sweeping view overlooking Magic Kingdom Park, this signature restaurant is the perfect romantic location to pop the question. Be sure to ask a Cast Member about having the ring brought in on an engraved glass slipper under a silver dome, on a “Will You Marry Me” platter.
9. The Hollywood Brown Derby – For movie fans, escape to an authentic replica of the famous Brown Derby, a longstanding Hollywood landmark and hang out for Tinseltown’s biggest and brightest personalities in the “Golden Age” of Hollywood. Arrange for special desserts with the ring on top as a surprise.
8. Victoria and Albert’s Restaurant – Amongst gentle harp strains and the sparkle of imported crystal in a Victorian dining room, sit in the midst of romantic splendor and transcendent atmosphere. The ring can be placed inside a red rose carried to the table on a silver covered tray for a romantic proposal.
7. Characters in Flight – Take your special someone up in a giant balloon 400 feet above Downtown Disney. Ascend in the sky to experience a proposal sure to take one’s breath away.
6. Cinderella’s Royal Table – Enjoy a dining experience in a mythical, medieval setting where you can celebrate your proposal with a champagne toast, and a few other special surprises!
5. Animal Kingdom Sweetheart Safari – Kilimanjaro Safaris provides the chance to see African animals including giraffes, black rhinos and lions, as they roam the 100-acre savannah in the Africa area of Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park. Enjoy limousine service to a romantic safari for two, complete with champagne toast.
4. Coral Reef Restaurant Dive Engagement – Coral Reef Restaurant at Epcot theme park is surrounded by stunning underwater views of The Living Sea coral reef. Between the delicious food and the extraordinary view, the Coral Reef provides a fascinating and memorable dining experience. Let divers assist with your proposal, in an underwater experience complete with champagne toast.
3. Serenity Bay at Castaway Cay – Castaway Cay is a port-of-call paradise on Disney Cruise Line Bahamian and Caribbean cruise vacations, where you enjoy such tropical leisure as snorkeling, boating, swimming and old-fashioned sunbathing. Escape to a quite beach setting ashore the private beach, for an intimate, romantic proposal.
2. Dreams Come True – Grand 1, the most luxurious watercraft at Walt Disney World Resort, offers a VIP boating experience on the waters of Seven Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake just outside Magic Kingdom. Enjoy dessert as the night sky comes alive with Wishes™ Nighttime Spectacular, aboard Grand 1 Yacht.
1. Magic Kingdom After Hours – Experience the enchantment of fairy tales at Magic Kingdom theme park beyond nighttime parades and fireworks. Your fairy tale begins in a horse-drawn carriage to the breezeway of Cinderella Castle, stepping out to a private string ensemble and a romantic table set for two. The rest is up to you!

Hi everyone…today, we’re sharing a way to take your wedding experience straight into the stratosphere with your own private fireworks display. At Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings we sprinkle pixie dust over every wedding to make it a true one of a kind event. A private fireworks display is one of the unique touches that a bride and groom can add to their wedding that is sure to amaze guests and create a memory to last a lifetime. Private fireworks can enhance a ceremony at Disney’s Wedding Pavilion and will add real sparkle to your wedding. As the bride and groom walk across the Wedding Pavilion Bridge to greet their guests, a multicolored fireworks display will paint a backdrop over the Seven Seas Lagoon. After one of our own planners’ wedding ceremony in November 2006, the sky over the Wedding Pavilion twinkled bright with colorful fireworks. The display was a huge hit for everybody, and it came as a total surprise for all the wedding guests! Adding this magical touch is a way to keep guests talking about your wedding for years to come.

I was recently asked to share some of our most unique wedding choices from recent couples over the last few years…one that comes to mind is this story of true adventure on the Disney Cruise Line. Jenna and Robert were married onboard the Disney Cruise Line on July 19, 2008. Jenna had actually never been on a cruise before, but she said it turned out to be the best vacation she’s ever had. The wedding turned out exactly as she had envisioned. The ceremony was on Castaway Cay and the weather was absolutely gorgeous!
After the ceremony Jenna and Robert went parasailing … in their wedding attire!! Yes, that’s her wedding dress flying in the air! They were both so relaxed, breathing in the air and enjoying a quiet moment together. That is what I call taking the plunge! Another memorable experience was meeting Captain Jack Sparrow right there after the ceremony to take photos. As Jenna said, “Man, I have the best wedding album ever!” Bon Voyage and up, up and away!

A Small Disney World
The famous song “It’s a Small World,” says it all. But no one knows it better these days than Alex and Donna Voutsinas. You might have seen their now-famous photo with Mr. Smee in the news recently, and today they visited Magic Kingdom park to recreate the snapshot.
The year was 1980, and young Donna was with her family at the Magic Kingdom park, posing for a photo along Main Street, U.S.A. with Mr. Smee and her brothers. What she didn’t know at the time was that her future husband, Alex, also would be in the background of the same photograph – riding in a stroller pushed by his father. (Alex and his family were visiting from Montreal; Donna and her family were visiting from Miami.)
Years later, as the couple looked through childhood photos one week before their wedding, Alex noticed something that immediately caught his eye.
“We were looking through pictures for our wedding video and my wife took this one out, and I noticed my dad,” Alex told the Disney Parks Blog this morning. “My dad used to have jet-black hair with a white tuft and I just noticed him right away. Then I saw myself in the stroller.”
The couple held onto the snapshot for about eight years. Two weeks ago, at the urging of friends and family, they posted it on Facebook. After the media and press discovered it on Facebook, their amazing story took flight and has since been reported around the globe.
Today, the couple visited the exact spot the snapshot was taken, recreating the famous photo with Donna’s picture pal, Mr. Smee. And this time, their own children – six-year-old Rocco, three-year-old Vince and one-year-old Antonio – posed with them and shared in the fun. The family now lives in Boynton Beach, Fla., and – as can be expected – are Disney Parks fans.

A Fantasmic Engagement
Main Street, U.S.A. Railroad Station – Many Disneyland guests agree that trains are romantic. The observation deck of the train station affords a spectacular view of Main Street, U.S.A. and beyond, onto Sleeping Beauty Castle.
LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- To mark the 20th anniversary of Disney's Fairy Tale Weddings & Honeymoons, Disney has announced special wedding packages plus a unique campaign showcasing the happily-ever-after stories of real life couples who have tied the knot at Walt Disney World Resort, Disneyland and aboard Disney Cruise Line.

All told, more than 40,000 couples have married at Walt Disney World Resort, Disneyland and aboard Disney Cruise Line.
To celebrate 20 years of happily-ever-afters, Disney has partnered with Alfred Angelo to create a Platinum Anniversary wedding gown so that brides everywhere may be a part of the celebration.

Platinum, Silver and a Happily-Ever-After at Walt Disney World
posted on February 8th, 2011 by Korri McFann, Worldwide Marketing & Business Development Director, Weddings & Honeymoons
We’re celebrating our Platinum Anniversary this year, so I couldn’t think of a better time than now – as Valentine’s Day approaches – to share this very special anniversary story with you. Bob and Maurita wed in 1985 and Walt Disney World immediately became the couple’s special place. When they decided to renew their vows for their 25th wedding anniversary, they knew the backdrop had to be Walt Disney World.
The day started with a ride in Cinderella’s Coach, and ended with family and friends singing Bob and Maurita’s favorite song at their reception. According to the couple it was the best day of their lives, even surpassing their wedding 25 years ago!
Love is always in the air here at Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings, so we invite you to join us on Facebook, Twitter and Ever After so you never miss a beat!
Love Is In The Air at the Disneyland Resort: Romantic Locations
posted on February 14th, 2011 by Michele Himmelberg, Public Relations Director, Disneyland Resort
Happy Valentine’s Day! Our treat for you today is a list of romantic spots around the Disneyland Resort.
Sleeping Beauty Castle – So many fairy tales begin in the forecourt of this iconic castle at Disneyland park. Hardly a day goes by without one or two future grooms leaning nervously on bended knee before his princess-to-be.
Snow White Grotto (adjacent to the Castle forecourt) – Making a wish with your special someone is always a lovely idea, and the wishing well located in Snow White Grotto is perhaps one of the loveliest places to do so – especially if you are the prince (or princess) they’ve been wishing for.
Court des Anges, New Orleans Square – Located between the Blue Bayou Restaurant and the New Orleans Square Railroad Station, this “Court of Angels” is a secluded courtyard with picturesque winding staircases that create a beautiful setting for a quiet interlude.
Disneyland Hotel Rose Court Garden – Often the site of weddings, these romantic gardens are a sweet-smelling locale for a romantic stroll. This semi-secluded getaway spot is near the Wonder Tower.
Main Street, U.S.A. Railroad Station – Many Disneyland guests agree that trains are romantic. The observation deck of the train station affords a spectacular view of Main Street, U.S.A. and beyond, onto Sleeping Beauty Castle.
Romantic Places at the Disneyland Resort 2
posted on February 14th, 2011 by Michele Himmelberg, Public Relations Director, Disneyland Resort
At Disney Parks, we believe in happy endings – and we’re also fond of fairy tale beginnings. Whether you’re looking for a sweet spot to make a proposal or just a quiet nook to wish upon a star, there are some great places to be with the one you love. Here are five more romantic locations at the Disneyland Resort (we shared five others earlier today).
Brisa Courtyard at Disney’s Grand California Hotel & Spa – This forested oasis is just steps from the Downtown Disney District, outside the luxurious hotel. If you’re planning a visit to this location, consider including a couples retreat to the hotel spa or a romantic dinner for two at the award-winning Napa Rose restaurant.
Paradise Pier Observation Deck – Located in Disney California Adventure park and overlooking the bright lights and bustling fun of Paradise Pier, this location sits above Paradise Bay and is adjacent to Ariel’s Grotto. If your mind is turning to a proposal, consider popping the question during the Love sequence of “World of Color,” just as the romantic melody of “So Close” from Walt Disney Pictures’ “Enchanted” accompanies a montage of Disney’s most romantic film moments.
Mark Twain Riverboat – If your fancy turns toward the historical, take your loved one back in time aboard this famous steamship at Disneyland park. From the top deck you can share a romantic moment with your First Mate and command a great view of Frontierland and New Orleans Square in the process.
Wine Country Trattoria at Disney California Adventure Park – Indulge your inner foodie with a table for two at this beautiful vineyard-inspired restaurant. If your evening includes a proposal, be sure to let cast members know ahead of time so they can help you make your special moment a perfect pairing.
Blue Bayou Restaurant – Nestled in the world-famous Pirates of the Caribbean attraction, this unique Disneyland park restaurant is romantic and full of ambience. With the soft bayou sounds accompanying your meal, you’ll feel a world away in this cozy corner of Disneyland park.
Here are some great tips if your upcoming trip to the Disneyland Resort includes a special romantic date or popping the question. If you are at a PhotoPass location, alert the attendant to capture your big moment professionally. If you choose a more secluded location, consider alerting the attraction or any nearby cast member to assist you with your personal camera, or help provide you a moment of privacy. Cast members at any of the Resort’s table-service restaurants are a great resource, too. Make your reservations well in advance and then ask to speak with a manager to assist in coordinating a special moment or table-service dinner proposal.
